First Reach // Project Statement
About First Reach
A universe about what happens after humanity gets there.
First Reach is an independent science-fiction project built around one central idea:
Human expansion into space would not be sustained by adventure alone.
It would depend on infrastructure, commerce, institutions, logistics and people.
The Idea
A lot of science fiction focuses on the moment humanity reaches somewhere new. First Reach is interested in what comes afterwards.
Who supplies the settlement?
Who finances the spacecraft?
Who insures it?
Who maintains the port?
What happens when a route fails?
Why does one settlement grow while another struggles?
Those questions became the foundation of First Reach.
One Universe, Multiple Ways to Enter It
The setting can be read. It can be played in the browser. It can be put on the table. Each form is designed to stand on its own, while remaining part of the same Solar economy in 2200.

Built Around Consistency
Settlements, organisations, spacecraft and historical events are intended to remain consistent across every version of First Reach. The public website, the browser game and the board game describe one civilisation, not three incompatible ones.

The Setting
By 2200, humanity has reached the Solar System. Permanent settlements exist on Earth, Mars, in orbital space and on the Jovian frontier. The work of keeping that civilisation running — through ships, infrastructure, finance and institutions — is the subject of First Reach.
Development Philosophy
First Reach is being built slowly and independently. The setting comes first. Features, products and pages are added when they can sit inside that setting without stretching it.

This website will be the public home for the universe, the browser game and the board game as they develop. For project, media or collaboration enquiries, see the Contact page.
